Comedy Relief Pittsburgh X!: Standup to Hunger
set for Friday, January 4, 2012 at the New Mullen’s North Shore.
Shows scheduled at 8:00PM and 10:00PM

PITTSBURGH, PA, December 14, 2012—Pittsburgh comedy fans once again have the opportunity to laugh loudly and often while providing much-needed help to the hungry in the Pittsburgh area. After a two-year hiatus Comedy Relief-Pittsburgh XI will be back to showcase the best of Pittsburgh talent for a great cause at the new Mullen’s North Shore showroom. Comedy Relief-Pittsburgh X! will kick off a new 2013 comedy series Wohlfarth’s company, Wolfie’s Comedy, will be producing the comedy series that will feature Comic Wars for most of the shows and feature the return of Mark Lundholm’s
www.marklundholm.com clean and sober Show on February 22nd and 23rd. Last year, Mark “alcohol free” show sold out two shows and this year we added a Friday show that is open to everyone. Wolfie’s will conclude the series with Mitch Hedberg’s Birthday Party on Sunday, February 24, 2013, which will help celebrate the late, great comedian’s birthday with local comedians doing jokes they wrote that would work for Mitch. Also, there will be a Mitcheoke part of the show where comedian can just do their favorite Mitch Hedburg bit or a story they have of working with Mitch. The Mitch Hedberg birthday party should be a great end to this innovative comedy series. All proceeds from the Mitch show will go to Children’s Hospital, “since Mitch was in many ways a kid himself,” according to Wohlfarth.

Upstairs at Mullen’s is an intimate 125 seat comedy venue with excellent sound and not a bad seat in the house.

Matt Wohlfarth, a Pittsburgh-based comedian and comedy writer, announces that Comedy Relief Pittsburgh X!: Standup to Hunger will be held on Friday January 4th at Mullen’s North Shore,200 Federal Street on the North Shore. This year’s show is the eleventh installment of his annual series of shows to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. 

“This is one night where you can catch up on the best of Pittsburgh new and not so new comedy talent in two great shows,” says Wohlfarth. Wohlfarth consulted with up and coming comedian Aaron Kleiber to find the hardest working comedians on the burgeoning comedy scene. Wohlfarth says,”Aaron Kleiber has been a big part of the uptick in comedy in Pittsburgh. He organizes many of these open mikes that let young comedians get valuable stage time.” 

This year, two shows are scheduled—at 8:00p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Admission is $25 per person in advance and $30 at the door, and tickets are available at www.wolfiescomedy.com

Wohlfarth will emcee both shows.

Every year Wohlfarth handpicks several of the Pittsburgh area’s funniest comics will appear on the bills. Also performing will be a recent graduate of the University of Funny, 13-year old standup comedian Richie Raida.

About Matt Wohlfarth
Matt Wohlfarth, who has performed for 20 plus years, is a comedian and comedy writer who has appeared across the U.S. at such comedy clubs at the Improv, Funny Bone, Punchline, The Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory. He has toured nationally with Yakov Smirnoff and performed with numerous comics, including Billy Gardell, Kevin James, Louis Anderson, Chris Rock, John Stewart, Bobcat Goldthwait, Mitch Hedberg, and many others. As a writer, his work has 
been featured on The Tonight Show; in Reader’s Digest, the Los Angeles Times and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; and on morning radio.

His material was also selected to appear in Jokes to Go, Comedy Thesaurus, and The Funny Pages, two popular compilations of jokes and bits from many of today’s most prominent comedians, available nationally in major bookstores. In addition, he’s written several screenplays, one of which, Raw Talent, won five acres of land in the prestigious Taos Land and Film Festival. Over the past years, in addition to writing and performing his own material, Wohlfarth has worked extensively with Smirnoff, including serving as creative consultant (with Brogan) on As Long As We Both Shall Laugh, Smirnoff’s one-man Broadway show at the American Airlines Theater.
