Jeb Bush Vs. 19-Year Old College Student

Jeb Bush continues to try and keep his distance from his own family. So we at least know that he won’t be running on pro-Family platform if he choses to run in 2016, which will really set him apart from the other Republican candidates. But as much as you try and try, you can’t escape your family. I’ve tried, but they seem to find everywhere I go. Probably because I keep posting things to FourSquare and Instagramming photos of state lines. In the case of Jeb Bush, he’s caught in the cycle of Iraq related questions. Like saying he would indefinitely go to war, much like that brother of his and that dad of his. Then back paddling and saying he misunderstood the question. The question that was asked was “knowing what you know now, would you invade Iraq?” That’s a tough one to misinterpret. Well at least he’s trying to take a page out of the Clinton book and saying he was confused by the term “know”. Silly question, the Bush family doesn’t know anything.

But even more recently, the new Bush has been schooled by a 19-year old Political Science student. Ivy Ziedrich called out Jeb Bush when he didn’t address how his brother “created Isis”. Before all the conservatives start screaming “LIBERAL AGENDA”, the college student is referring to the 2003 incident where Paul Bremer, the then head of the US Occupational Authority, dissolved the Iraqi Army. This of course left a ton of highly trained Sunni officers unemployed and angry. This included Bakr al-Bagdadi, the current head of the Islamic State. Much like an disgruntled employee that tries to shut down the servers, graffiti every floor with genitals or shut the elevators down so everyone has to walk up the stairs, al-Bagdadi did what he thought was rational; Become the leader of a Nationalistic Islamic State that even Al-Queda thinks is too much.

Knowing this information, Ziedrich started a dialogue with the Governor [quotes from NY Times]:

“It was when 30,000 individuals who were part of the Iraqi military were forced out — they had no employment, they had no income, and they were left with access to all of the same arms and weapons,” Ms. Ziedrich said.

She added: “Your brother created ISIS.”

Bam! Slam dunk statement! Now Jeb Bush can have a response to this that can explain the reason behind his brother’s decision…

Mr. Bush interjected. “All right. Is that a question?”

Ms. Ziedrich was not finished. “You don’t need to be pedantic to me, sir.”

“Pedantic? Wow,” Mr. Bush replied.

…Or he can be a dick! I think he probably doesn’t know what ‘pedantic’ means. That’s not helping his case of trying to get away from the image of his brother.

Then Ms. Ziedrich asked: “Why are you saying that ISIS was created by us not having a presence in the Middle East when it’s pointless wars where we send young American men to die for the idea of American exceptionalism? Why are you spouting nationalist rhetoric to get us involved in more wars?”

Slam Dunk again! Yes, it seems like the Bush family loves wars! It’s like America can’t be great unless it’s giving another part of the world a swirly! Why are you a bully, Mr. Bush? Who hurt you!?

Mr. Bush replied: “We respectfully disagree. We have a disagreement. When we left Iraq, security had been arranged, Al Qaeda had been taken out. There was a fragile system that could have been brought up to eliminate the sectarian violence.”

Security? That’s it? No military or government force to help stabilize the country? You basically put the equivalent of a Mall Cop to try to fix the problem of an absent that your brother fired!

He added: “And we had an agreement that the president could have signed that would have kept 10,000 troops, less than we have in Korea, could have created the stability that would have allowed for Iraq to progress. The result was the opposite occurred. Immediately, that void was filled.”

Yes, but the void could’ve been avoided by not firing the military! That’s a like bank firing their security and blaming the manager when they get robbed every day!

He concluded: “Look, you can rewrite history all you want. But the simple fact is that we are in a much more unstable place because American pulled back.”

But you just said that it’s because we pulled out that we have this problem! I really hope he records himself talking and listens back to his day because he’ll find a lot of back paddling.

Bush walked away after he made his contradictory statement, probably hi-fiving himself in own head. “Nailed it, Jeb! There’s no way you’ll be compared to George now!” Well you still will be. You’re his brother by blood! You’ll always be connected to George. There’s not escaping it and more you try to the more hypocritical you’ll be, Jeb Bush! So if you really want to different than your family, you jump on the Democratic ticket, you might have better luck of getting into the race. Kudos to Ms. Ziedrich. Not only did she school Jeb Bush, she is proof that this generation is capable of caring about things. We need more Ivy Ziedrich’s in this world!
